To which I suggested the ball was in CA court to keep the QCOM inference DC initiative alive / moving forward.

Yesterday CA did just that – moved the ball forward with the QCOM / Humain PR . The inference data “seed” has been planted and now must be nurtured.

QCOM is being officially recognized as a new player in the AI data center (inference) market.

Of note : the WSJ (which seldom covers QCOM / & mostly negatively when it does) had 2 positive articles today, one , the leading article on the Business section front page.

Article 1: “Qualcomm Stock Surges on AI Chip Launch”

  • Section: Business & Technology
  • Date: October 28, 2025
  • Focus: Qualcomm unveiled its AI200 and AI250 chips targeting rack-scale inference in data centers.
  • Market Reaction: Stock jumped 20% intraday, driven by investor enthusiasm for Qualcomm’s pivot from mobile to infrastructure AI.
  • Strategic Edge: Qualcomm emphasized low power, high memory bandwidth, and total cost of ownership (TCO) advantages over GPU incumbents.
?? Article 2: “Heard on the Street: Qualcomm’s AI Bet Is a Long Game”

  • Section: Heard on the Street
  • Date: October 28, 2025
  • Focus: Commentary on Qualcomm’s acquisition of Alphawave IP for $2.4B and its broader AI infrastructure ambitions.
  • Key Insight: Qualcomm is building a full-stack solution—from edge inference to rack-scale compute and interconnect IP.
  • Skepticism: Column notes that while Qualcomm’s retrofit economics are compelling, execution risk and competition from Nvidia, AMD, and hyperscalers remain high.
  • Quote: “Qualcomm’s chips may be cheaper and more efficient, but it will take time to convince data center operators to switch horses midstream.”
