Spit

Stiletto heels,
Steely pout,
She did this before.
Cold cash for her work
Leaving lipstick behind,
The only warmth was her breath,
She spit me out
And left, forgot me
On this cold clear night.
Yes, she read my poem
In a darkened alley.
Me the only one in the crowd.
No emotion for this, at least
No emotion this little money could buy.
God I sounded awful, too quick and stale.
Only wanting someone to love
Reading my poem-I hide in these shadows-
And hating myself
Hoping you read me, read me
To want
And not because you have to.
