PoetTrader, the Book recommended: "Leaps" is great; it is published by the CBOE---Chicago Board of Options Exchange and will really let you know the benefits and strategies of using Leaps. The best thing is that they give you time in case "the market goes bad" because you might be on the right issue, but during the "wrong season"----time is the great leveler of "volatility"; but with BroadCom, time carries a heavy premium----so I find myself buying much "closer in" than I would like----August. And as we approach earnings, the "volatility factor" will increase and you will see the options rising at an even higher beta than they do when the time frame is "non-eventful".
