<<<It really is morally evil for men to torture babies for fun.>>>

"Of course it is wrong for compassionate and rational people to relish or to cause the pain of others."

Wrong? All of a sudden you are shy about using the word evil. Of course you are the penultimate judge of what is compassionate and rational. Both of which by the way are just ripped off from the ignorant religious types because they are not philosophically supported by pure naturalistic materialism which is all Atheism has to draw from.

(Atheism is responsible for far more death and destruction that religion ever has been.)

"That is ignorant crap. Atheism is ONE premise--a belief that God is unprovable. It has no other dogma."

If that makes you feel better to believe that Atheism is a one trick pony, fine; but Atheists in action demonstrate otherwise. When Atheists get into power (usually by force) they immediately see the reasonableness of maintaining that power by killing anyone who disagrees with them and the compassion involved in cleansing the planet of inferiors so that their Superior group will benefit. All of which is in perfect harmony with your basic premise that groups make their own rules because there is no authority that transcends them.

OTOH...When evil men do evil in the name of a religion that renounces the very acts of evil being perpetrated (Christianity specifically) then they are nothing more than evil doers using religion as a cloak to cover their evil.

To such men Jesus promises to say...."then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
