Brightpoint Establishes Operations in India and Expands Relationship with Nokia

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2003--Brightpoint, Inc. (NASDAQ:CELL) announced today that its subsidiary, Brightpoint India Private Limited ("Brightpoint India"), has commenced operations in India. Brightpoint India will offer distribution and outsourced services to wireless equipment manufacturers, network operators and retailers. Wireless industry veteran Mr. Max Hagemann has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Brightpoint India. Mr. Hagemann has worked with industry leading companies such as Hutchison Telecom, Hutchison 3G, Millicom International Cellular and Vivendi Telecom.
Brightpoint India has signed an agreement with Nokia India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Nokia Corporation, to distribute Nokia CDMA mobile phones in India. The initial handset being distributed by Brightpoint India is the Nokia 2280 which utilizes a Nokia-designed cdma2000 1X chipset and is an affordable and localized product for Indian consumers.
