St Andrew Goldfields Ltd SAS TSE November 21, 1996 Considers Open Pit Taylor Mine Shoot Zone
St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. has just completed a three hole drill program on the Shoot Zone on the Taylor property to evaluate the upper portion of the Shoot Zone as a open pit. 1996 diamond drill results are as follows:
HOLE GOLD OPT WIDTH FT INTERVAL FEET SZ-29 -45degrees 0.215 60.2 173.4 - 233.6 SZ-30 -47 degrees 0.195 49.3 171.5 - 220.8 includes 0.28 11.8 171.5 - 183.3 0.28 13.9 206.9 - 220.8 SZ-31 -55 degrees 0.14 45.9 171.5 - 217.4 includes 0.26 6.9 171.5 - 178.4 0.22 7.4 210.0 - 217.4
The Shoot Zone is a 45o dipping sedimentary unit adjacent to "green carbonate" altered ultramafics within the Porcupine-Destor fault system. Most of the gold is free gold in quartz veins. The majority of the gold may be recoverable by a gravity circuit in St Andrew's CIP mill. The Shoot zone is located 1/2 mile west of the Taylor mine's West Porphyry Zone which is currently being drilled. A location map is attached (or call 416-597-0969 for a copy).
The Shoot Zone has an undiluted resource of 1,150,000 tons grading 0.157opt to a depth of 1,000 ft. This resource was calculated by Esso Minerals Canada in 1989 and was based on 84 holes totaling 55,300 ft of diamond drilling, a minimum 5 ft mining width, 0.05 opt cutoff grade with high grade assays cut to 1 opt gold. Earlier exploration concentrated on exploring to depth.
A minimum of 6 additional short holes will be drilled to provide samples for metallurgical work and additional data to calculate open pit tonnage and grades. It is believed that an open pit could potentially produce approximately 50,000 ounces of gold over a 2 year period.
St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. is a Canadian gold exploration and mining company with three mines (Stock, Taylor, Hislop), a modern 1,000 tons per day CIP mill and more than 36 square miles of 100 percent owned prime exploration properties in the prolific Timmins gold camp of Northern Ontario.
