August 19, 1997 SRR MERCANTILE INC. ("SRA-V, SRRMF-L") Michael C. Ross, President of SRR Mercantile Inc., reports that the Company has signed a Letter of Intent to enter into a formal written agreement within 30 days into a mining joint venture respecting the exploration, development and mining of eight concessions (approximately 50 sq. km.) in the Republic of Madagascar. SRR Mercantile is pursuing sapphires with the joint venture and is reviewing further opportunities for additional gemstone properties in Madagascar.
