Daphne, Alabama, December 9, 1998 - Communitronics of America, Inc., which offers paging, voice messaging, Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) and cellular services in the Southwest and Southeast, has completed its integration of Crescent Paging, Inc. which was acquired by Communitronics in a stock for stock exchange in September.
The Crescent acquisition gives Communitronics increased coverage in the New Orleans market area, a two-way radio system, nine additional UHF trucked channels and six additional 800 MHZ trunked channels, said David R. Pressler, Communitronics' president and treasurer.
"The additional channels, alone, add an estimated $2.5 million in immediate value for our Company," Pressler said, " But the addition of Crescent's management and technical staff is priceless." Ronald Scalise and R. Allen Gallagher — founders and operators of Crescent — have signed long term employment contracts with Communitronics.
Crescent, based in New Orleans, also manufactures and repairs telecommunications products. Since the Crescent acquisition, Communitronics has made four additional acquisitions. "We are aggressively seeking other new acquisitions in the wireless telecommunications industry," Mr. Pressler added.
Communitronics of America is an FCC-licensed carrier that operates its own towers and transmitters, operating on multiple frequencies throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle.
Mr. Pressler said the company, which offers numeric display paging, tone paging, voice paging and voice messaging, plans to offer alphanumeric paging and Internet based e-mail paging early next year.
