<We love a winner, practically require excellence and domination in our endeavors; but we typically become queasy when exposed to the processes that such an outcome often requires.<
This is an interesting observation and very true. Lots of similar one's, too. Such as people being quesy about killing animals, but, no problem eating beef, chickens, etc. Or people people buying SUV's so that they can get closer to nature!!
At any rate, back to BK... I'm not sure that his problems relate to society's unwillingness to see what it really takes. After all, John Wooden, Dean Smith, Mike K. are all ouststanding coaches and all were disciplinarians and demanded work and sacrifice fromt their players. Yet, I can't imagine any of them throwing chairs, choking players, flinging vases around the office or cold clocking cops(I could go on and on when it comes to BK's bizarre behavior).
What BK did with some of his players would not be tolerated in the army if a DI did it. Fact is, BK is and always will be a bully. Now he's going to look for a new place to coach and will surely find a job with some institution that cares less about its integrity than it does about getting alumni to cough up dough. |
