When I was a freshman in high school I read Fountainhead and uh being foolish I thought I had read the textbook on how to live. I tried to change myself internally. I didn't recognize the danger until junior year when several people finally convinced me of her sophistry. I had spent those two years trying to emulate her philosophy. I was not nice to people, I was arrogant, I was selfish and my mom didn't know what happened to me. In fact residues of her taint still reside in me, it seems to be permanent.
I can still remembering reading her book Captialism the Unknown Ideal. Yes you are very right, a lot of what she says is outright wrong! The idea she created is so iconoclastic that I fell for it. I was quite young and still searching for the meaning of life. When my friend said it was a great book, I read it. I wish I was older when I read it, and wish I had more technical background as well so I could see her deception. I really did not like how I spent those two years.
