If - and it's a very big if - Major League Baseball eliminates two teams and then moves another to the American League, the Diamondbacks are adamant they don't want to be that team.

"Baseball founds itself on tradition," second baseman Craig Counsell said. "I don't know how you can move the World Series champion to another league."

Baseball is trying to improve the economics of the game by subtracting two teams - perhaps Montreal and Minnesota - that do not generate enough local revenue. But Diamondbacks first baseman Mark Grace doesn't see any moves coming before next season. The players association appears ready to go to battle.
