The Railway Supply Institute is the lobbying group for the companies that supply parts, railcars, services, etc for the railroad industry. The Railway Supply Institute keeps many informative statistics on the railroad industry. One such statistic is railcar backlogs, orders, and deliveries. The following link show the most current numbers of that statistic. This information must be updated each quarter. Since railcar production is cyclical, our understanding of this statistic can clue us in on when the cycle is turning. Currently, in 2006 we are in the "fat" years; which will inevitably be followed by the "lean" years. Our job is sell before these "lean" years rob us of our profits.
