Broadcom (BRCM: news, chart, profile) slumped more than 17 percent on concerns that Motorola (MOT: news, chart, profile) will partner with Texas Instruments (TXN: news, chart, profile) on a competing cable modem. Analyst Nathaniel Cohen at Goldman Sachs doesn't believe this would materially impact Broadcom revenue, however, and recommends using any resulting weakness in the stock as a buying opportunity.
Shares of JetBlue (JBLU: news, chart, profile) descended 9 percent after UBS Warburg initiated coverage of the airline with a 'reduce' rating. Analyst Samuel Buttrick said the stock is 'overvalued' and set a $38 price target, which was roughly 25 percent below the current level. He did point out that the company is the most profitable U.S. airline in the first quarter with operating margin of 17.5 percent vs. a 13.6 percent collective operating loss by the overall industry. Shares of Lawson Software (LWSN: news, chart, profile) tumbled more than 46 percent after the company indicated late Monday that fiscal fourth-quarter earnings would fall short of expectations, due to order deferrals and as customers purchased single suites rather than larger multi-suite packages.
