I have to agree that Delphi is a great development product. I work for a large software company that serves the banking industry. We tried Visual Basic and that was a big mistake. We are making our first attempt at using Delphi on another product development project and all I here is rave reviews about it.

But more than half our business is one time systems development projects for the banks. On these, quite often the banks choose which development platform they want the application built in because they want to support it after implementation. They most often choose Smalltalk because it is object oriented and multiplatform. As far as multiplatform is concerned, IMO OS/2 is almost dead so that is a mute point. But OO and reuse are the big buzzwords in our proposals. Anyone know if there are any plans to make Delphi a real 'object oriented' development tool? Smalltalk is much slower because it is interpreted versus compiled and has a high learning curve so I think Delphi would have a serious advantage.

50% of my portfolio long on BORL
