Leadtek Debuts Workstation-Class 3D Accelerators and Multimedia Solutions at Siggraph 97
FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1997--Leadtek Research Inc. announced today the new product lines showcasing at Siggraph 97.
After making successful steps in high-end 3D graphics accelerators, Leadtek will debut next generation 3D graphics accelerators and multimedia add-in boards at Siggraph 97 (Booth No. 343).
Professional 3D Graphics
Leadtek Research Inc. has designed and optimized the WinFast 3D L2510 based on 3Dlabs' Glint MX graphics processor with Delta Geometry engine accelerating a wide array of 3D and 2D applications with workstation-class 3D graphics performance. On the application side, WinFast 3D L2510 can be used for accelerating professional applications such as mechanical CAD, multimedia authoring, geographic information systems and digital video editing. The supported API platforms are OpenGL(R), Direct3D and Heidi.
GLINT MX is the new high-end, scalable graphics engine that supports high-resolution displays up to 2Kx2K at true color, seamless HDTV display, large texture memories and deep 32 bit color and Z buffers. GLINT MX also accelerates 100% of OpenGL 1.1 rendering operations -- including Tri-linear texture filtering, Gouraud shading, advanced texture-mapping, per-pixel mip-mapping, anti-aliasing, fog, transparency, overlay planes, multi-plane stenciling and alpha blending with destination alpha support.
With an OpenGL Installable Client Driver provided, WinFast 3D L2510 delivers highly-optimized and fully-compliant OpenGL performance, seamlessly integrated with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) NT and Windows 95.
WinFast 3D L2510 comes with 8MB VRAM frame buffer and 8MB EDO DRAM local buffer as a basic option. For dedicated users needing more texture buffer to handle 3D rendering operations on complex objects, WinFast 3D L2520 provides 8MB VRAM frame buffer and 16MB EDO DRAM local buffer while WinFast 3D L2600 provides 16MB VRAM frame buffer and 32MB EDO DRAM local buffer, this raises maximum graphics mode up to 1600x1200 with true color and 85Hz refresh rate.
Entry-level Professional 3D Graphics
WinFast 3D L2300, based on 3Dlabs' Permedia2 3D graphics engine, integrates robust 3D acceleration and MPEG-2 video acceleration as the best price/performance 3D graphics solution for Pentium II, Pentium Pro and Pentium systems. With support for OpenGL, Heidi and Direct3D APIs and balanced features across Windows NT and Windows 95 platforms, the WinFast 3D L2300 is designed to accelerate a broad range of applications, including 3D animation, authoring, 3D VRML web browsers, CAD applications, 3D-intensive games and 3D presentation.
Technology demonstration on WinFast 3D S800 (DVD-Plus-3D accelerator)
An all-in-one board solution for powerful 3D/2D graphics and MPEG-2 playback acceleration, WinFast 3D S800 integrates advanced features for multimedia PCs, including high quality/speed video playback for DVD/MPEG-1 and Dolby AC3 processing. The high level of parallelism and bandwidth on board provides concurrent performance between multimedia functions, delivering consumer-electronics quality for the PC at a mainstream price.
With 4MB/8MB high-speed Rambus DRAM on board, WinFast 3D S800 supplies unprecedented multimedia processing power for new generation multimedia PCs with hardware acceleration on both 3D graphics and DVD playback, plus the high quality/refresh rate display delivered by integrated 230MHz RAMDAC.
