| I agree with pretty much with everything you posted here, in the late 50's, early 60's there were few kids of different races at the schools I went to, I had a Chinese friend in grade 5 who was the only Chinese kid in my grade. there were no East Indians or Black kids. In high school there was one East Indian kid who wore a turban and a few more Chinese kids , no Blacks, the first Black guy i ever met was a co-worker, a big dude was was funnier than hell, we got to be very good friends, at that time the only First Nation people i saw were on skid row so I had a very poor opinion of them, my opinion changed when a Metis and a Cree were hired where I work, Irv the Metis and I got to be good friends, Tom the Cree was a machinist who I played hockey with in our beer league. later on I worked with a Haida who was a hard working guy. fast forward to !995, I had never met any East Indians they were a mystery to me, my sister worked at BCTV and they were getting all new computers, my sister was getting one so i wanted one too, turns out the guy who was building all the computers was a practicing Sikh who spoke with an English accent, Kuraj has built every computer I have ever had to this day, a better person would be hard to find. 911, I was at home watching CNN when the planes hit the twin towers I was pissed off at all Moslem's then. I don't like that religion to this day but I don't hate the people now, I have met Moslem's since and have changed my opinion, they are just like all people who follow a religion some good some bad. |
