I have to say that having been to many places around the world, the Tuolumne meadows is the most striking place I've seen. Much more so than the more famous Yosemite Valley, if you can believe that, because there's a lot more of it, and it isn't overcrowded.

That's a nice area. I was fortunate as a kid to have a step dad who was a Sierra Club outing leader. We traveled in a 1968 Volvo to within 50 miles of every single point on the map within California. In the years following, my trips elsewhere (other states) always just remind me of someplace just like it back home in California.
