Limtex, When I upgraded my PC last year I ordered the CD reader/writer at the same time. I had a bad experience with my old PC when I bought a Philips CD reader/writer and installed it. The software that came with it somehow changed the registry and other key operating software and rendered my computer totally inoperable. I had to remove the drive and complete reinstall the OS and all the software I had been using, but only after spending hours on it and after making numerous calls to the Philips help line. They told me it was because I had replaced the original hard drive on the PC previously. I have never had more problems with hardware installation than I did with this CD burner. Thankfully the new PC came with fully integrated software and everything worked right out of the box. Aus
