Corey:

Apparantly Alphanet (FAX) is embroiled in a lawsuit with another
company over patent infringements. Fax Int'l is trying to force the US
court system to grant a licence to one of FAX patents.
It appears that FAX has the patents to this technology.

There are so many companies involved in data transmission across
on-line systems, that it is hard to keep track of them all. Little companies
in Canada, Israel and India are all trying to use the Internet as the
backbone to offer voice and data transmission, one analyst said.
However according to this analyst, none seems to have met with much success.
None of the big telephone companies are concerned over the potential
competition. The tel. co. could see iits big customers flee and a drop
in revenue, if fax Internet services prove saleable. But exisiting Internet
technololgy might be to limited for now to pose a threat to big tel. companies
Transmission delays are common on the Internet.

I hope this helps.
