Dear David,
Your recent post takes me by surprise (especially considering the tone of the first one). It's late and I just stopped by the computer on the way to get a drink of water, so these are top-of-the-head responses to your comments:
1) nobody survives you-know-who without a strong ego.
2) various longs express exuberance about how great they're doing in FNTN (deservedly so). If I expressed similar exuberance in a post script about how a swing trade went (deservedly so), why is mine egotistical and not theirs?
3) some regulars have been welcoming to all newcomers. Others have been beastly. In fact, I've been sent a huge number of Private Messages for the past 36 hours by people whose names I never saw on the board, but who tell me they did post in the past and were treated so sarcastically or not even acknowledged that they were glad I posted as I did. Speaking for myself, I sure didn't like all those pointed references to lice showing up on the board just as I was showing up on the board! Or the Star Wars personality setup -- we longs have got Princess Lea stashed in the FNTN home office and you're Darth Vader. (G)
I've got a Stone Soup philosophy about FNTN. Do you know that story? I used to read it to my kids -- a starving man in a town knocks on a door, asks for food and is told they have nothing. He tells them he wants to make "stone soup" and can contribute a stone. They throw in some carrots. The next people throw in some onions, etc, etc. Before you know it, everyone has contributed something and the townfolk are sharing a nice pot of stone soup.
I agree with you that the core FNTN posters have done good things here -- heck, they've convinced the rest of us that this is a real company. But there are also plenty of people (at least by my count of PMs) that want to contribute to the "pot" on the FNTN thread, but they told me that nasties sent to them by posters like TechnoWiz and Don Robertson made them back off. I believe them because it's my experience too. It's a shame. Some of them, maybe all of them, have individual trading talent or business experience to contribute that could make the "pot" better.
This evening's posts show a number of people seriously trying to piece together a good analysis. If I was a gadfly, at least something comes of it.
Nevertheless, bottom line right now is to say you're a good guy and that I'm sorry if my comments upset you. Likewise to Bill Fortune, Tomato Man and Radim.
Stay well, Ariella |
