It is not surprising that a study funded by Microsoft comes to the conclusion that MS products are superior. It is a little puzzling, though, that this result is the exact opposite of benchmark findings of independant companies. Mindcraft has a long and glorious history of giving benchmark wins to the highest bidder. You can view some of the technical flaws of their benchmarks at the following address lwn.net The gist is this: Take a stock WinNT system and tweak it extensively, then take a Linux system and cripple it, claiming that you cannot find information on performance tuning. Then publish the results.
