Titanic Exhibit to Extend Dallas Run Thru Sinking Anniversary April 14 DALLAS, Mar 24, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Due to overwhelming response, SFX Family Entertainment and RMS Titanic, Inc. announced today that they have extended the Dallas engagement of Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit.
"We've been delighted with the reception received in the North Texas area," said Mark Tischler, vice-president of sales & marketing for the exhibit. Over 50,000 people have experienced the exhibit in the first three weeks, which would place Titanic in the company of the Catherine the Great Exhibit and the Ramses Exhibit, as Dallas's major blockbuster exhibits.
The giant luxury liner struck an iceberg at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 1912, and sank at 2:17 a.m. Only 705 passengers survived and 1,523 men, women and children perished.
The exhibit features over 200 artifacts recovered from Titanic's wreck site 2.5 miles below the North Atlantic, including personal items from the passengers, crew uniforms and parts of the actual ship. A major featured item in the exhibit is a three-ton section of the ship's hull.
Tickets for the exhibit are available at the exhibit, or at any Kroger Ticketmaster outlet with no added service charge. Tickets may also be purchased at the Box Office of Berkshire Lane or by calling the charge-by- phone line at (214) 373-8000.
For general information on the exhibit, call (214) 421-4969.
