BEA Systems (BEAS: news, msgs, alerts) dropped more than 10 percent after Deutsche Bank issued lukewarm comments about the company, saying that the outlook for the second half of 2001 remains fuzzy "with a slowdown in new application development potentially limiting upside." The firm also noted two other areas of caution for BEA: commerce server and personalization server sales are down 40 percent on a quarter-to-quarter basis, sales quotas may be too high. However, Deutsche Bank did say it believes BEA will meet or beat estimate when it reports its first-quarter results on May 15 and that it expects management to reaffirm its guidance for the rest of the year.
