I suspect that a large part of what is hurting Ault is the lack of standards for the 56K modem. Many of Ault's power supplies are sold to people using external boxes on their computer, and most of the external boxes are upgrades. After all, who buys a new computer with an external modem or CD-ROM or ZIP drive or ... ? And, I suspect that currently the biggest upgrade item is a new modem. Thus, as the rate of upgrades dies down, so does Ault's orders.

I know that I personally am not going to buy a new modem until US Robotics and Rockwell(?) sort out their differences on the 56k standards.

Hopefully they will agree on a set of standards sometime in the next 3 to 6 months.
