Tony, I believe that he was covering two bases:

First, Mark Edelstone and John Cross are acknowledging that LSI has been shifting its market focus, particularly to communication sub-systems stuff, and

Second, it's customary to project declining P/E's in the future, as a conservative measure. In this case, he's allowing for the increase in LSI's P/E going forward.

Meanwhile, I buy your conclusion: Let's be happy with up 7 and down 2. Let's do that several times in the new year!
