Registration Statement for 2,000,000 Shares of

SAN DIEGO--(BW HealthWire)--Nov. 3, 2000--IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation (Nasdaq:IDPH - news) today
announced that it filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed offering of
2,000,000 shares of IDEC's common stock. In addition, IDEC will also grant the underwriters of this offering an option to
purchase up to 300,000 additional shares of its common stock to cover over-allotments, if any.

The public offering is being underwritten in the United States by Merrill Lynch & Co., Salomon Smith Barney and Banc of
America Securities LLC. Internationally, the offering is being underwritten by Merrill Lynch International, Salomon Smith
