The earnings estimates you hear reported are concensus estimates, essentially an average of the available analysts' estimates. Each brokerage house that covers the issue arrives at their estimate by independent analysis of the available data. However, they do not always use the same data, or interpret it the same, so there is considerable deviation from the mean. The 10-k is due anyday.
The price is right. Buy AXC now, avoid the rush in late 97.
