a blast from the past.... In 1968, the Ampex Corporation Research Department hired a recently graduated doctoral student from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology named Robert P. Hunt. His initial assignment was quite simple: "Find something new and usful in magnetic storage technology." Shortly thereafter, Bob Hunt invented the magneto-resistive head (MRH). -- John C.
