Congrats on the cool post award, Maurice Verne. Did SI send money? Or a cheesy pen set? I bet neither. Although I liked the post which got you the award, I liked your "San Diego" post a lot more. The vision of a Q-dome created by phlying photons protected by buzzing F-15s in sight of surfers looking for the perfect wave is still with me. But you should have somehow worked in the nudists at Black's Beach into the image. And a few blue-hairs from La Jolla. As well as a raving retired Marine Colonel or two who wanted to nuke the Chicoms in 1951.
