Difference is that your online one takes as much as 120 seconds to verify a credit transaction and they take less than 3 seconds. Even less with CDMA. If you got a christmas rush in a big store, it really makes a differnce.

Also, you could be a credit run street vendor without having to have the wireline phones...

For WLL countries, this is possibly the only way Visa can penetrate the country.
