scanshift, now that you mention it, JPR is one of the 3 finalists I am currently considering. They don't waive the monthly charge, but do have a lower ticket cost. At small numbers of trades (20 or so), they are about the same price as MBT, Executioner, but as the numbers get higher, they pull out ahead. I have a couple of questions I need answered (about account maintenance, etc), but they are looking good.

p.s. No, it doesn't bother me that much about Townsend and ARCA, since it isn't clear to me they are keeping a secret (as opposed to not advertising it). In any event, I would likely just avoid ARCA. One of the advantages MBT had over livetrade and a couple of the others was I wouldn't have to worry about mickeymousing the fractional per-share charges at various ECN's. I'm new to this, so that is one less nuisance. OTOH, JPR looks appealing on account of they don't bundle the ECN charges, but break them out - however they do so as fixed charges. e.g. I don't mind $1/ticket for trading on the Island, since that is a simple addition to the base $10 (but they don't have any per-share charges for each ECN). I am requesting an info packet from them...
