I do not know what percentage of homes are served by DLC systems but possibly the Ryan Hankin and Kent Star report would likely have that info (others also since this kind of data is published). Its probably 10-20% - just a wild guess. As far the average length - thats a loaded question as the average is probably meaningless since metropolitan loops are very short ( in big cities), suburban are a somewhat longer ( out in the suburbs) and the rural loops throw off the average since they range up to and beyond the full 12kft CSA limit. If you just look at one or two of these groups you get a very different answer I suspect. Again the Ryan Hankin Kent Star Reports would likely shed some light here. Another source that would provide good data would be the contributions to the ANSI T1E1 standards body that worked out the ADSL specs since they studied loop lengths and characteristics extensively and focused on both CO fed and SAI based loops.
