Actually, the ads might be easy to target to specific audiences this way. I don't know how the chat rooms are set up as I am not an AOLer. If ads were put here on SI for instance, I expect I would just ignore them for the most part like I do the rest of the ads on the net.

Question is: can AOL subsidize the losses on subscribers and still come up with a profit from these advertising revenues? I'm a doubter and think that the losses will continue, but lessen perhaps.
