> That some twist religion to serve other ends should never deter us from the path.
I could not have said it better. However and regretfully in reality that can not be true as along as people follow the idea of belonging themselves to one particular religion.
John Lennon said, Imagine no religion. Can you close your eyes and just think for a meoment what this would would be like if there were no religions, no teachiings of how to beat/punish someone, how to slap your wife, how to wash your hands when going before God to pray, how to donate your money, how to do this, and how to do that, etc. etc. etc.
Just Good Deeds, Good thoughts, and Good words. That is all needed for all to be happy without belonging to any ideaology. Is that really difficult for people to have: and believe me people dont need a book to tell them what a good deed is, and what good thoughts are, and what good words are. Everyone - as human beings - can distinguish good from evil for which humans have intelligence.
Good deeds, Good Thoughts, and Good words. These are all that matters. No religion. Just imagine what this world would be like then.
