I think that most people are always waiting for price
reductions. Then when they see one, they buy a chip.
The more often the price reductions, the more often
people buy chips. But if they lower the prices less
often, will more people buy at each price reduction?
Will it really make any difference in sales? If
someone want's a new machine, then won't they get
one at some point? When will that point be. If they
knew that prices never changed, then they would buy
it when they want it and have the money. When they
know that the prices will be reduced in aug, then
won't they wait til aug? They might not buy a Cyrix
or AMD chip just because they are waiting for the
Intel price reduction. Of course people who know
about the aug price cut, and care, won't buy Intel
either. So I predict that Intel will hurt the PC
market even more if they make this a big deal.
