Stuart Sutcliffe: From the Beatles to Backbeat Exhibit Opens An art-school buddy of John Lennon's, Sutcliffe was one of the original Beatles. In late 1960, after performing in Hamburg, he chose to quit the group and remain in Germany to pursue his art career. He died of a brain hemorrhage in April 1962. The exhibit, on loan from Pauline Sutcliffe and the Beatles Story museum in Liverpool, includes letters, notes, set lists and other items documenting the Beatles' earliest years, one of Sutcliffe's guitars and several of his paintings. This exhibit is scheduled to open on May 15, 2001 and will run through September 3, 2001. rockhall.com rockhall.com |
