Two definitions of conservatives. Notationally separated by conservatives and "conservatives". I'll put some italics in.

Conservatives are what you can look up in a dictionary. They have a certain political philosophy that includes things like small government.

"Conservatives" are those people that call themselves conservatives but don't demonstrate a conservative philosophy. Demonstrate is important. You might find Bush claiming he's for small government, but when you look at the growth of the Federal Government over the past 6 years anything but small applies.

A conservative wouldn't complain about entitlement spending then sign an entitlement program that has an unfunded liability much larger than SS.

You can find real conservatives at CATO or in the financial section of the Heritage Foundation. Bush is a phony and the "conservatives" on this thread are phony.
