There ain't one alien there's gobs of them and they generally abide by their arbitrators decisions.
That's right, space rules.
Notice they don't shoot at each other or we'd be cleaning that up too.
As for an alien indifference to our suffering, the poorest people on the planet do most of the smiling.
Suffering really is subjective.
When considering our " one small planet at the edge of one galaxy " let's remember ours is exceedingly beautiful and beauty is admired everywhere.
