#1, April 4, 2000. Advisory Commission on E-commerce publishes their report that week. Their recommendation is supposed to become the basis for government tax policy related to the internet. It is my belief that they will have to recommend some mechanisms for taxing the internet, which could include taxes on use, transactions and other activity. This report will send shock waves through the internet community. (Note: The "due date" for the report is actually the 7th, which is a Friday. I am betting that it gets released a day or two early, but that in any case the selling will start before publication, thus I have chosen the Monday of the same week as my date for the start of the decline.) mg
