Ronald, Compaq is very unlikely going to go with a drive that is not being used by 80% of its competitors. That would put Compaq way out in left field with noncompatibility a major issue. One thing you should keep in mind is that IOM will most likely soon announce a NEW IMPROVED ZIP relative to its relationship with NEC. "NEW IMPROVED" meaning faster seek time, or one/half the seek time probably at 15ms to 18ms, only slightly different from SYJT230. Such techniques of NEW IMPROVED products is what brought Proctor and Gamble to stardom - always coming out with a NEW IMPROVED dish soap. From what I know, IOM is using a similar business model. The NEW IMPROVED model will cause those with old parallel Zips to turn them in for NEW IMPROVED ZIPS recreating the sale chain all over again from the bottom up and creating new buyers at the same time.
