Kirk,

In regards to your Lam vs. UTEK question, I have both in my portfolio and believe both will prosper in the coming years. Read: better average annual returns than AMAT and far exceeding the DJIA or DOW. UTEK has a number of promising technologies which will not contribute to eps for some time. But the key is that they reduce the cost of making chips. As plants increase in cost from the current $2B to an estimated $10B by 2010, this will become increasingly important and innovative cos like UTEK may be gobbled up by larger cos. or remain independent and hugely profitable. Win-Win either way.

Lam has some excellent etch technology under its belt but former mgt was unable to fully exploit it. With Bagley in the picture and their entrance into CMP, their prospects are some of the best in the industry IMO, esp. with a PSR of ~.7. Since this is an historical low for Lam, the only way one could go wrong with this one over time is if it went out of business. Lam is #2(behind AMAT) in my portfolio and I have been hurting since the fall of last oct. But our time will come and sooner than many people think.

Lying in wait,

brian
