As I said on the Dell thread months ago (and I believe you were there), that DELL's business model is repeatable and that although there are barriers to entry they can be copied in a relatively short period of time. In contrast Cisco's business has much MUCH more signficant barriers to entry and much more signficant barriers to market acceptance. We're talking very complicated network systems - not just a desktop computer. Still, Cisco is by no means exempt from competition - they have plenty. If Cisco were to get knocked off due to competitive influences we'll all see it a mile away...it won't be a stealth move by a Compaq realigning their business. For what it's worth I called the Dell competitive problems back in September and everyone laughed at me over there....... So, I hesitate to assume that Cisco will not be attacked by the competition..jus that I think we have the luxury of being alerted to it sooner than a Dell would.

Does any of this make sense ??? Threaders...help me out...
