but the schools have become by mandate more a second home than a learning facility. You just cant abandon so many kids and that prevents the school from being effective as so much money goes to social side. I dont really want to debate this with you because i dont have the answers and i am not expert on this at all. I am just making the point that it is not easy, it is not the 50s, the middle class problems are real, the cultural single parent family and the two earner familys are real problems and so on....IF the answers are to be found, perhaps they exist in dialogue between teachers, parents, and the private sector. We dont want the educational facsimile of hmos becoming the norm either. And thats what replaced the best medical care system in the world that existed here. I guess its not the 50s for medical care either. mike
