Fine day for TGNT. Anybody out there worried about this TeraBeam outfit Gilder is apparently high on? Supposedly, TeraBeam is announcing its infra-red laser omnidirectional antenna-less broadband data pipe (if I have all the buzzwords in correct order) product on Monday which is allegedly a far superior technology to TGNT's microwave system, for the same last mile stuff. Supposedly doesn't require rooftops or antennae, unaffected by fog and rain, huge bandwith, low cost. Yadda, yadda. This is all over the GG threads and a few others (there is even now a TeraBeam thread, even though the company is private), and supposedly TGNT and WCII are the two most vulnerable companies to what is supposed to be disruptive technology, according to GG. They did the same thing as TGNT and just hired a heavyweight from T's wireless unit to run the joint. Will the Gilder moonies be massing to short TGNT next week? LoF, you follow this stuff closer than I do. What's your take on fiberless optics?
