Your very interesting post makes me worried about INTEL. These changes coming which you describe sound like a change in the basic market. Low end NW computer chips would be commodities with low profit margins- not the ones intel has enjoyed. Doesn't DEC already have one in conjunction with the British company you mentioned ARM. The server market is smaller and has all the SERVER/Workstation companies already there with their RISC 64 bit chips and unix and NT and supposedly scalability/clustering. Can INTEL take over this workstation/server market the same way they did PCs with their Merced chip? If not it seems their growth would slow down especially with the AMD and Cyrix et. al. challange. Of course INTELS P/E isn't that high. But your post to me indicates a change in the market and competition which could be a real challange for INTEL.
