Re: "One wonders why Intel did not try and maintain their ASP at the expense of conceding a relatively small market share gain to AMD this quarter. Surely that would have given better results than they are now predicting? Perhaps the answer is that Intel believes it is now important to damage AMD? "

AMD is tripping over itself - so Intel has very little to do with AMD's slipping market presence.

Just look at AMD 's screw-ups:

1. ThumperTurd/AThWIper - massive power consumption.

2. Massive Power consumption has lost AMD any notebook business that they used to have.

3. 1.2 GHz ThumperTurd - paper launched 2 months ago - still not available in any meaningful quantity.

4. 760 DDR chip set - FLAWED - can only run with slow
memory - 200 MHz - making it nearly useless.

5. 760MP - DELAYED another 6 months !! - No hope for AMD server business for probably a year or more - if at all.

6. MuSKANK - product dropped - uncompetitive !

7. MaloPenis - delayed at least a quarter !!
