Nvidia Corp. is the first to see chips with embedded DRAM based on the 65-nanometer process from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. The graphics firm used the process for its latest mobile GPU, the foundry said Tuesday.

ATI used eDRAM in XBox. IMO, either eDRAM or ZRAM are a way to ultimately
- reduce cost
- increase performance
- integrate on the CPU
- lower power consumption
(not necessarily all at the same time).

Reducing dependence on external DRAM is, IMO, a way to help achieve all of the above.
