Re: NVIDIA’s new Earth-2 supercomputer project to create a Digital Twin of the Earth to study Climate Change, the EU is also planning a Digital Twin project to study Climate Change using the new LUMI supercomputer powered by AMD CPUs and GPUs.

On digital twins and earth simulation — there is a related project in the EU called Destination Earth. The initiative was started back in 2019 and launched January 2021.

"[Destination Earth] aims to create a digital simulation of Earth with a digital twin that will be used to better understand the effects of climate change and environmental disasters and to permit policymakers [to] more effectively respond to these issues."

Here is a short (seven minute) video on it, as it relates to the LUMI supercomputer and the wider EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
