the Party was originally Glenn's idea and he started the ball rolling. I think if some people want to go the InterOp thing in May that's cool but it would be considerate for everyone to plan the real Party for a time that he would be available.

And I agree.

We need to try to accommodate as many peoples' schedules as possible. I really wish we could all set up a time that was perfect for all of us. I don't think we could all do it at any single point in time, given the wide variety of individuals we have here.

That's why I think it is going to take multiple events to meet everyone. The whole idea behind the current strategy was to get as many people as possible at one or two events. That's why there were multiple locations. If the timing or location are bad for any of the listed events, let's change them....

Interop offers a unique place, because a lot of those involved in high tech communications will all ready be there... and there's a lot to do in Vegas. I wish the timing for this was later, because the rates appear to drop a lot after the middle of June.

LA is totally open. That date can change, and already has once. But, with anything outside regular work and school hours, we may face the fact that a lot of families are planning summer vacations, and may not want the family to see a bunch of Drunk FOREians Celebrating! (vbg)
Then again, some families will plan their whole vacation around that!

LA offers of lot of possibilities, but I would need someone else to plan an agenda, I'm not that familiar will all of LA's attractions. LA, to me, is like NY, and you may not need an agenda.... there's always so much going on, you just 'go.'

Las Vegas can change too, but I think we might loose some of the participants... I don't know. It is very difficult for me, personally, to make Las Vegas, but I've committed to it, and I am working through the issues with time, family, work and all that jazz.

Austin is a nice thought. It's a beautiful place, and it looked good. I guess we could have picked South Fork, Colorado - which is loads of fun that time of year too, but I was afraid it was a little too far off the beaten path for most folks.

Then there is bajaex.com for something really cool to do. Or a cruise... Or a charter of a large boat in St. Thomas... or get Gregg Sterner (https://www.siliconinvestor.com/profile.aspx?userid=5015057) in here... He's got a schooner that would probably hold all of us, and take us on a trip of the Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico (now that's what I'm talkin'!)

I don't know, I don't have any of the answers.... I just started keeping a list of sites mentioned on the thread.

If someone wants to make some concrete suggestions about when and where.... (ie: become the party 'organizer' [read Sheila an Mary here] hint, hint) now is the time to do it! We only have a couple of days invested in 'list keeping' at this point, and I don't have any problems with other suggestions...(it's supposed to be Tim's and Dawg's and Glenn's party, right?) I encourage suggestions and ideas... That's how I get to new places and meet new people. I'll try to make it where ever and when ever it is.

But someone needs to step up to the plate today, so I can pass the baton to them. I'm getting ready to be communications 'challenged' for the next 4 to 5 weeks, and won't even be able to maintain a list.
