Re: "made the bubble bigger,"

Really????????

How much 'bigger' did they make it?

(As compared to, say... Greenspan's massive surge of federal liquidity to the markets --- first in Y2K then... when the Nasdaq bubble that that initial surge sparked collapsed, by continuing easy credit policies he simply transferred the bubble to ASSET MARKETS... with home ownership --- as the largest asset market around --- receiving the bulk of that unnatural rise in asset valuations.)

Re: "They also where at the forefront of the securitization of mortgages"

Not so much.

Asset-backed securitizations were the province of Investment Banks (Lehman & Bear Stearns, etc.) and Hedge Funds mostly.

The Agencies did not originate them.
